After days of back and forth

Barcelona have completed the signing of Manchester City and Spain star Rodri after a long back and forth, bolstering the Catalan side's squad from the start of the new season.

Rodri's future had been hanging in the balance since the end of the World Cup, which Spain won and where the Manchester City man claimed the award for best player. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona chased his signature.

Real Madrid looked the closest to landing Rodri at first. The deal then swung towards Barcelona in recent days.

Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Rodri's move to Barcelona had gone through.

Romano wrote on his official "X" account: "Rodri to Barcelona. An agreement has been reached for the Spanish midfielder's move from Manchester City to Barcelona".

He added: "Everything has been done for the former Ballon d'Or winner. Manchester City have given the green light to Barcelona's last offer".

Rodri missed Manchester City's clash with Arsenal today, Sunday, in the English Community Shield. The Gunners ran out 3-0 winners.
