Manchester United’s transfer business has been one of the big stories of the summer, with Ineos making significant changes to the squad.
The club have overhauled their attack by adding three new faces. Benjamin Sesko is set to lead the line, with support from Premier League regulars Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
It might take some time for them to click fully, but there is plenty of potential in this group, and they should offer a clear upgrade on last season.
In the build-up to Man United’s season opener against Arsenal, Theo Walcott has said that the Red Devils are starting to look a lot more threatening.
“I like it. It’s actually quite scary,” Walcott said initially.
The former winger pointed out that combining those three with Bruno Fernandes gives United a strong attacking mix.
“I just think those goals added into this team, with Bruno having now this luxury of like, ‘goodness me, if I put this, these players going to put it away’. That’s a problem for the league.
“It’s a good thing for the league because we want to see United up there.”
Since arriving in 2020, Fernandes has been United’s top assist provider each season. He is expected to play in a deeper role next year due to the number of forwards who have come in.
Last season, Mbeumo scored 20 goals in the Premier League, while Cunha netted 17 across all competitions.
Bryan Mbeumo always wanted to join Manchester United, despite other offers. His strong performances at Brentford led the Red Devils to pay £66 million for him.
Walcott did not hide his admiration for the Cameroonian winger, even saying he thought Arsenal should have moved for Mbeumo long ago.
“I like Bryan Mbeumo, Arsenal should have got him many years ago. That was one play I just thought, take the load off Saka, take it off him. I’m a big fan of his. Big fan.”
Mbeumo will get an early chance to make an impression against Walcott’s former club this weekend, while fellow new signing Benjamin Sesko is also set for his first appearance in red.
