Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on hiring Thomas Frank as their new boss ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Spurs are working to finalise the Dane’s appointment, with his excellent work at Brentford over the last seven and a half years have caught the attention of Daniel Levy. After his stint with the Bees, Thomas Frank wants to make the switch across the capital. He could have a strong influence on what happens at White Hart Lane in the transfer market, where several incomings and outgoings are expected to take place in the next couple of months.
Tottenham’s new prospective coach has now demanded the club to sign one player from his Brentford side. According to a report from the Hounslow Herald, Frank has expressed an interest in bringing Nathan Collins to White Hart Lane.
Nathan Collins has been an ever-present for the Bees since his arrival from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2023. The central defender, who played every single minute of Brentford’s Premier League campaign this past campaign, is open to the idea of following Frank to Tottenham.
However, the aforementioned report claims the financial package involved could prove a stumbling block for the North Londoners, as Brentford would look to make a significant profit on the £22million they spent on the Republic of Ireland international two years ago. This means the Lilywhites will have to make some big sales to free up both a place in the squad and the required funds to sign Collins.
Atletico Madrid have been keen on signing Cristian Romero this summer, as Diego Simeone looks to bolster his defensive unit ahead of the new season. With two years left on his contract, Spurs are demanding around €70million to let the Argentinean defender go. If Romero pushes for a move, Levy and Co. may have to make adjustments and reduce their asking fee.
Whatever is the case, Tottenham must not go for Collins to potentially replace Romero. At Brentford, Collins has been a reliable presence at the back, impressing with his leadership and no-nonsense approach. However, the Irishman isn’t up to the standards required to replace the 2022 World Cup winner in the Spurs ranks.
We have seen plenty of examples where a new manager at a club wants to reunite with someone who he relies and trusts fully. The Collins links to Tottenham is the same story, but Levy and Co. must aim higher to bolster their defensive unit after such a torrid 2024/25 campaign.
