Liverpool appear all ready to excel on all four fronts this season, with their talismanic winger Mohamed Salah delivering Ballon d’Or-worthy performances consistently. Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City remain in contention for the Premier League title.
Few would have anticipated such a thrilling and unpredictable title race at the start of the season. Tim Sherwood shared his updated Premier League title prediction on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, confidently backing Liverpool to clinch the league title.
Liverpool and Chelsea entered the season as underdogs, with significant managerial changes raising questions about their prospects. Liverpool bid farewell to Jurgen Klopp, bringing in the relatively unproven Arne Slot, while Chelsea replaced Mauricio Pochettino with Enzo Maresca, whose managerial experience was limited to a single season in the second tier.
Manchester City began as favourites for the title, while Arsenal, often tipped as contenders, have struggled with consistency. However, given Liverpool’s current trajectory, they appear poised to secure the Premier League crown.
Tim Sherwood initially backed Arsenal to claim the Premier League title, even as recently as last week. At the time, he expressed confidence in the Gunners’ ability to string together a run of 10 to 15 consecutive wins to overtake Liverpool.
Sherwood emphasised Arsenal’s potential to dominate once their squad returned to full fitness, pointing out the need for players like Gabriel Martinelli to step up or for alternative solutions like Leandro Trossard to be explored. Arsenal’s commanding 5-1 victory against Crystal Palace seemed to validate his prediction.
However, Liverpool’s stunning 6-3 triumph over Tottenham has shifted Sherwood’s perspective. The former manager now believes the Reds are the team to beat, declaring that the stars seem perfectly aligned for Liverpool this season. He noted their dominant display against Spurs, highlighting the impact of Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah in providing width and firepower. Sherwood admitted he has changed his stance, firmly placing Liverpool as his pick for the title.
Whether Liverpool can maintain their momentum and secure the Premier League title remains to be seen, but they are undeniably in a strong position to achieve glory. Chelsea, however, could still have a say in the outcome, making this an intriguing race to watch as the season progresses.
