Inter Milan and AC Milan are reportedly hoping to complete the purchase of the San Siro land within the next two weeks.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
For the past several months, Inter and AC Milan have been trying to buy the land of the San Siro.
The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri are planning to build a new stadium adjacent to the existing structure.
Initially, the clubs had wanted to demolish the San Siro and build in its place. However, bureaucratic hurdles made tearing down the new stadium impossible.
Then, the clubs had pursued plans to build separate stadiums in the greater Milan metropolitan area.
Now, Inter and Milan are working on plans that would see them stay in the same area, but keep at least part of the iconic existing stadium.
However, the clubs must complete the purchase of the land soon.
Time is running out for Inter and Milan to avoid an injunction against demolishing the iconic second tier of the San Siro coming into force.
Therefore, the Corriere report, the clubs want to complete the purchase of the land within the next week.
Or, at the most, in the next two weeks.
