AC Milan are reportedly considering the opportunity to sign free agent Takehiro Tomiyasu, the Japan international formerly of Arsenal and Bologna.

The transfer session has closed in Serie A, but it remains open for players who are out of contract.

There are still quite a few figures who could come back to Italian football and Tomiyasu is one of them, as his contract with Arsenal was terminated by mutual consent in July.

Tomiyasu injury nightmare

The decision was made as he struggled to recover from a long-term knee injury, meaning he only made 84 competitive appearances for the Gunners over four years.

A report from transfer pundit Ekrem Konur warns that this injury is also the main stumbling block for Milan, who want to make sure the 26-year-old is available before offering him a deal.

After all, the Rossoneri already abandoned an agreement for striker Victor Boniface this summer after being unhappy with his medical results.

Tomiyasu is no stranger to Italian football, as he wore the Bologna jersey from 2019 to 2021, when sold to Arsenal for €18.6m plus add-ons.
