Tottenham Hotspur had their worst fears confirmed earlier today when it emerged that their club captain James Maddison had suffered an ACL injury and would be out for the next 6-7 months at the very least.

Spurs would now have to focus on the transfer market to potentially bring an attacking midfielder to reinforce the squad. With Dejan Kulusevski also out injured, Thomas Frank might not want to go into the new season without a new attacking midfielder.

Of course, there are some squad options who can fill in that position to start off for Frank. Pape Matar Sarr has played their during pre-season, Mohammed Kudus can definitely act as a #10 and a case can even be made for Mathys Tel.

Tottenham appreciate Eberechi Eze

However, should Spurs wish to dip into the market, there are a number of talented options out there. Among those include talented Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze.

Now, as per journalist Ben Jacobs via Caught Offside, Tottenham appreciate the English international but the player currently has his heart set on a move to Arsenal. He said:

“Yeah, I think Eberechi Eze does, to an extent, have his heart set on Arsenal. Players don’t always get their number one destination, but the point here is that Tottenham sources have said for about three weeks they’re not moving on Eze, but they appreciate him.”

Eze is widely regarded as one of the most talented English players in the Premier League. He has been dubbed ‘the drunken master’ in his earlier days due to his languid dribbling style.

Versatile attacking presence

For Oliver Glasner’s side, Eze has played much of his football as a left-sided attacker but he is equally capable of playing as an attacking midfielder as well. He is just the kind player that Thomas Frank needs.

Tottenham will want someone versatile enough who play as an attacking midfielder but also fill in at other positions once Kulusevski and Maddison return. Thus, it would no be surprise to see them go for an Eze-esque player.

There isn’t much to be said regarding Eze though. He has his heart set on a move to the N7 and we don’t need a player who doesn’t want to come to the N17. Let’s wait and see how this plays out in the coming days.
