After a memorable 2024-25 season, in which they won the UEFA Europa League, Tottenham Hotspur are going to start the 2025-26 season tomorrow with a Premier League match against Burnley.
Several changes have taken place in the Spurs team during the last few months, with new players like Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha joining, and others like Son Heung-Min and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leaving.
However, there still might be more changes in the team as the London side is being linked with some new players, including Eberechi Eze and Conor Gallagher. Meanwhile, there are also some players in the Tottenham squad who are not necessarily a part of Thomas Frank’s long-term plans, and thus the club would be looking to part ways with them.
One such player is the Malian midfielder Yves Bissouma, who recently made the headlines at the eve of the Spanish Super Cup game between Spurs and Paris Saint-Germain. Thomas Frank dropped him for that game as a penalty for disciplinary issues.
As things stand, Fabio Paratici is looking to offload the midfielder, and as per a report from Daily Mail, transfer activity from Italy can help Tottenham find a new destination for Bissouma.
The report claims that Inter Milan are looking to land the AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone, and the two sides are currently negotiating his move. If this operation ends up successfully, Bissouma can emerge as a solution for Roma to replace their departing midfielder, even though the Serie A side is currently prioritizing the signings of new wingers.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce is also looking for an upgrade on Sofyan Amrabat, and Bissouma can be an appealing signing for the Turkish side.
With only a year left on his contract, Tottenham can accept offers around £20 million for the Malian. This exit would make a lot of sense for Thomas Frank’s side, especially as they have already added Joao Palhinha to their squad.
In addition to the Portuguese star, there are other players like Archie Grey, Lucas Bergvall, and Rodrigo Bentancur who can also play as defensive midfielders for Spurs.
However, there are only a few days left in this summer transfer window, and Tottenham will have to fast-track their operations if they want to ensure Bissouma’s exit this summer.
