Tottenham Hotspur welcome Leeds United on Monday night, needing all three points to boost their survival hopes in the Premier League. If results go their way, with West Ham facing Arsenal on Sunday, Roberto De Zerbi’s side could open up a four-point gap with just six points to play for.
Leeds United extended their unbeaten run to six with a 3-1 victory against Burnley last time out. Yet, there is no denying that several Spurs fans will be hopeful of seeing a positive result after watching their side bag back-to-back wins in their last two league outings, having previously gone more than four months without a Premier League victory.
Under De Zerbi, Spurs have begun to show signs of an identity and revival. The Lilywhites have picked up seven points from a possible 12. And De Zerbi’s hopes of picking up a win on Monday night appear to have received a significant boost following the latest injury update from Leeds United.
Edmund Riemer stood in for Leeds United’s manager, Daniel Farke, at Friday’s pre-match Tottenham press conference and broke some bad news. He revealed that Noah Okafor and Gabriel Gudmundsson will be unavailable for the trip to North London.
Noah Okafor has a calf injury and will not participate in the Whites’ next two games, while Gabriel Gudmundsson has a hamstring issue that will keep him out of the Tottenham fixture. Pascal Struijk is a minor doubt, but he is likely to be ok.
“Gabi will be out this week, and Noah will miss the next two games. Pascal won’t train with us today, but we’re hopeful he’ll be available,” Edmund Riemer revealed in his press conference.

Okafor and Gudmundsson have been key players for Leeds this season. The Swiss forward has been the Yorkshire giants’ most influential player in recent weeks, bagging six goals in his last seven league starts. He most notably netted a double in Leeds’ shock 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Gudmundsson, meanwhile, has shown his flexibility by operating as a left-sided centre-back in a back three and as a wing-back. The Swede’s pace, energy and doggedness make him indispensable to Farke’s side. Not having the duo is a massive double blow for the Peacocks, who will be raring to beat Tottenham and confirm their safety.
The Leeds pair’s absences could swing the game in favour of Tottenham. The home side will have a huge opportunity to take the game to Farke’s men and beat them in front of our fans to take another step closer to safety.
