Tottenham Hotspur have a very important season ahead of them under new manager Thomas Frank. A new tactician always comes in with new ideas which would technically mean a reset in the project but at the N17, there is an additional caveat to consider this summer.

Having broken their trophy drought and secured the Europa League title last year, there is a lot of expectation for Spurs to kick-on and build on the momentum to have an even better season. It might not be fair on Frank but he knew what he was walking into while saying yes to this job.

The club have made the right move in the transfer market as well, signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United. The Ghanaian attacker is one of the best attacking talents in the Premier League and would be an excellent addition who can be a ceiling-raiser at North London.

Tottenham wanted Morgan Gibbs-White

One other player that Tottenham wanted to sign and even triggered the release clause of was Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White. However, the Premier League club threatened legal action on Spurs, and the move eventually fell through with the 25-year-old signing a new contract.

Now, as per TBR Football (h/t Give Me Sport), Tottenham have identified Leicester City talent Bilal El Khannouss as a potential alternative to Gibbs-White this summer. The Foxes youngster is set to be available with his club dropping to the Championship for the upcoming season.

El Khannouss is said to have a release clause of around £25m in his contract. A magical attacking midfielder who is said to have “unbelievable feet and great vision”, the 21-year-old has caught the eye with his dazzling displays for Leicester and showed last season that he is ready to play in the Premier League.

Excellent breakout campaign for Bilal El-Khannouss

The Moroccan is still very young and isn’t yet the finished product. However, by signing for a club like Tottenham, he would get the chance to learn from the likes of James Maddison and develop his game while also providing valuable depth to Thomas Frank.

If Spurs do manage to snap up Bilal El Khannouss this summer, it would be a huge coup and an even bigger signing than Morgan Gibbs-White. The Moroccan has an even higher ceiling than the Englishman and the coming days will be interesting to see how this transfer saga plays out.
