Tottenham Hotspur have seen club captain Son Heung-min leave this summer to join Los Angeles FC in the MLS. The club now need to decide in the next couple of weeks if they want to bring in a replacement.

The departure of the South Korean veteran does leave the North London club slightly in the lurch when it comes to left-wing options. They have Wilson Odobert who is young and talented and Mathys Tel can also play there.

Richarlison is used more as a number nine these days but he is yet another player with past experience of having played in that position and Welsh attacker Brennan Johnson can also play there.

Tottenham identify Ademola Lookman as Sonny’s replacement

Now, as per Give Me Sport , Tottenham have identified Atalanta attacker Ademola Lookman as a potential replacement for Son Heung-min. The Nigerian is pushing for a move away from the Serie A club this summer.

Lookman has been one of the best attackers in Serie A in recent seasons. He was an absolute star for Atalanta on their way to the Europa League title in the 2023/24 season.

Gasperini even labelled Lookman as a ‘top player’. He excels at playing on the left-wing and cutting inside on his left-foot. He also has a very mean finish on him.

A lot of experience

What Lookman offers Tottenham is a lot of experience. Should he come in, he should not take much time settling down and could help Thomas Frank ease in to his tenure as Spurs manager.

At 27, he is still pretty young and has the prime years of his career ahead of him. Playing for Frank’s side, which is bound to create a lot of chances, should only be a beneficial thing to help him improve his goal output.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham actually make a push to try and sign Lookman this summer. If they do, it will be an interesting signing and let’s wait and see how things play out.
