It hasn’t always been easy going for Tottenham Hotspur this transfer window. The North London club had to first deal with Son Heung-min’s exit from Spurs after a decade at the club as the South Korean legend moves to the MLS to join Los Angeles FC.
Almost around the same time, the club also received the crushing news that one of their star players, their #10, James Maddison had suffered an ACL injury and would be out for the foreseeable future.
Last night, they were in for their next blow of the summer transfer window. H aving been in negotiations with Crystal Palace for Eberechi Eze throughout the summer window, they saw Arsenal swoop in to hijack their deal.
The worst part of all this was the fact that Spurs had already reached an agreement both with Palace and Eze for a move this summer. However, when the Gunners came calling, their former academy reject couldn’t say no.
Now, as per Spanish outlet SPORT (h/t Caught Offside), Tottenham Hotspur are in a four-way battle to sign Barcelona midfield star Marc Casado. The Spaniard could be available for a move this summer due to the Catalan club’s financial situation.
Casado made his first-team breakthrough under Hansi Flick last season. He quickly emerged as a key cog in the German coach’s plan and had an excellent first half to the season, before Fr enkie de Jong returned and took over the starting role from him.
Likened to an animal for the way he plays the game with sheer passion, Casado has interest from four Premier League teams – Tottenham, Wolves, Bournemouth and West Ham United. Chelsea have also previously expressed interest for the youngster.
| FC Barcelona have told Marc Casado he will barely get minutes this season. Despite this, the player does NOT want to leave.

Barça have decided that they will accept offers for Casado. There are proposals already from Como, Real Betis and Wolves.

Without a doubt, Casado is an excellent player with a lot of talent. The Spanish midfielder is very capable and has what it takes to hold fort in midfield for the North London club but this isn’t a signing that Spurs particularly need.
Tottenham have already signed Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich and have Rodrigo Bentancur, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Pape Matar Sarr who can play there, even if you do not consider Yves Bissouma.
Thus, Spurs might be wiser allocating their funds to a more pressing position like the attacking midfield. Let’s wait and see how things play out on this front in the coming weeks and if the North London club push for such the Barcelona midfielder this summer.
