Guglielmo Vicario has a reputation with some as an excellent shot-stopper with spectacular saves, especially low and close-range, good command in some games, and solid with feet for build-up play, although this has drawn quite rightly drawn criticism in 2025/26. Brave and composed under pressure at his best. He undoubtedly contributed to the Europa League success, yet this was against lesser opponents.

However, this feeling is in bad shape with many; his distribution (especially long balls) has been highlighted as a dip this season. Team defensive struggles have inflated concession numbers. Occasional high-profile errors or emotional displays noted by fans/media. Injury history (ankle, recent hernia/groin mentions). Backup Antonín Kinský has impressed in limited appearances, fuelling competition/debate. Nothing kills a goalie quicker than a loss of confidence amongst supporters.

There is a sense amongst many fans that the Italian is another buy cheap, buy twice option.

French outlet RMC Sport (via journalist Arthur Perrot) reported that Tottenham Hotspur have contacted Paris Saint-Germain to inquire about the situation of 24-year-old goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier. Any potential move would be contingent on Tottenham securing their Premier League status for next season.

Chevalier joined PSG from Lille in August 2025 for around €55m on a five-year deal.He made his debut in the 2025 UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham (PSG won on penalties).
This season (2025/26), he’s had a mixed run: around 17 starts and over 2,000 minutes, but he’s lost his place recently, with Matvei Safonov getting more game time lately. He’s been in and out of the squad, which has fuelled speculation about his future. None of which is particularly inspiring.

This is still an early-stage interest/enquiry rather than a formal bid. PSG might be open to a sale if Chevalier doesn’t regain his spot, given the investment and competition in goal. Tottenham’s priority on staying in the PL adds uncertainty—relegation would likely kill any prospective deal.

For me, this is positive in respect of the club looking, but is Lucas Chevalier the man for the job? It feels optimistic.
