Tottenham are still looking to bring in reinforcements as we approach the business-end of the transfer window. The Lilywhites want to strengthen their midfield for this season as Thomas Frank aims to compete hard on all four fronts. With time running out in the window, Daniel Levy will need to ack quick if he wants to bring in a new player and add more depth in the middle of the park.
Signing a new midfielder is seen as a priority as Yves Bissouma might be heading for the exit doors in the coming hours. The Mali international has already fallen down the pecking order under Thomas Frank, and it looks like his race run at N17 following several disciplinary issues during the pre-season. Not only him, but the Lilywhites are also facing the prospect of losing another player.
Experienced midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is also facing an uncertain future at Spurs. The Uruguay international only has a year remaining in his contract at N17. And there have been no indications that he is willing to extend his deal, with the Lilywhites facing the risk of letting him go for free next summer.
Tottenham are still in the hunt to sign a replacement for Bentancur and Bissouma before the transfer window shuts shop. Signing a new midfielder is a priority as Thomas Frank relies heavily on his #8 to break-up play higher up the pitch, as well as, create chances for the attackers. The Danish tactician wants a ‘box-to-box’ midfielder in his ranks, as the player would be able to make an impact on both ends of the field.
It was reported earlier that Spurs are keen on landing Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid. The England international has not managed to find his way into the starting eleven under Diego Simeone. And the La Liga giants are prepared to move him on after just a season in Spain. The report also stated that the Lilywhites face competition from Newcastle United, Everton, and Manchester United for his signature.
Now, there is a new update on the transfer saga involving the 25-year-old. As per CaughtOffside, Tottenham are leading the race for Conor Gallagher’s signature. The Lilywhites are also preparing a bid of around £35m-£40m to land the England international before the transfer window shuts. However, the report states that the proposed bid from Spurs remains short of the £50m valuation Atleti have set for Gallagher.
Signing the ex-Chelsea star would certainly be a game-changer for Spurs. The 25-year-old has immense experience and quality to play for the Lilywhites week in week out. And he will thrive under Thomas Frank in the middle of the park. Gallagher’s work ethic and determination to win the ball back and make an impact in the final third of the pitch is second to none.
