Tottenham are ready to sanction a loan move for their academy talent Mikey Moore this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing an audacious move for Real Madrid star Rodrygo, as Thomas Frank eyes further attacking reinforcements.

Spurs have already strengthened their offensive unit by signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United and turning Mathys Tel’s loan into a permanent deal from Bayern Munich. Moreover, a deal for creative midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has been blocked by Nottingham Forest.

In Son Heung-min, Richarlison, Brennan Johnson, Manor Solomon and Wilson Odobert, the Lilywhites do now appear to be well-stocked as far as their attacking options are concerned heading into the new season. Even if Son and Richarlison’s futures remain up in the air, Solomon expected to be moved on, it is going to be difficult for any academy talent to get regular first-team opportunities under Thomas Frank next term.

Mikey Moore enjoyed his breakout campaign last term at Spurs, although it was hampered by a bad virus. He managed 19 appearances across all competitions, registering a goal and two assists after spending over two months with virus.

Tottenham to allow Mikey Moore to leave on loan

Now, according to an exclusive report from Football Insider, Tottenham have ‘reluctantly’ agreed to let Mikey Moore leave on loan this summer. The teenage prodigy wants a temporary move away from his boyhood club to aid his development, as he aims to compete for a starting role in the Premier League upon his return in 2026.

The winger has attracted strong interest from several Championship clubs, with West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City both keen to sign him. Borussia Dortmund have also been keeping tabs on Moore’s situation at White Hart Lane. After losing Jamie Gittens to Chelsea earlier this month, the Bundesliga club want to replace their starlet by bringing in the prodigious Moore on a permanent deal.

However, Spurs have no plans whatsoever to lose their wonderkid on a permanent deal, given how highly he’s been regarded in and around the Hotspur Way. In fact, the North Londoners had initially not wanted Moore to go out on loan and viewed him as a part of Thomas Frank’s squad. But they have had a change of plans and are now prepared to grant their academy talent his wish to leave on a temporary move, the report adds.

Mikey Moore needs a strong loan in the Championship

There is an expectation now that the race for Moore’s signature will speed up, as Spurs have granted his wish to leave on a season-long loan. He got minutes regularly during the first half of last season but saw his game time diminish after the senior players returned from injury problems.

With so many wide players at Frank’s disposal, there is no point for Moore in sticking around and only get opportunities in cup competitions. To continue his development, the England youth international needs to go out on loan, toughen up and play regularly. With several Championship clubs vying for his signature, Frank and Johan Lange must select the best possible loan destination for Moore to grow.
