Tottenham Hotspur forward Mathys Tel has struggled to break into the team since arriving at N17 in January. The Frenchman has done more good than bad in recent months, but the impact on the pitch has not necessarily converted into goals or assists under Ange Postecoglou. The talented forward is still finding his feet at Hotspur Way and it is clear that Tel’s games is slowly maturing.
The 20-year-old played a crucial part in helping Spurs reach the promised land this season. The North London club managed to exceed all expectations and win the Europa League against all odds last week after beating Manchester United in the final. Now, the Lilywhites are looking to build on the European success after ensuring Champions League qualification for next season.
Coming back to Mathys Tel, the talented forward has not dominated the headlines for his performances on the pitch. But anyone with a good understanding of the game would say that the 20-year-old is key part of Ange Postecoglou’s setup as he controls the tempo of the attack and Spurs tend to favour attacking from his side due to his ability to weave past defenders.
Tottenham forward Matys Tel is gradually adapting to life in the Premier League. The demands are high and fans expect instant impact from the players in England. But credit to the Spurs fans for not putting pressure on the 20-year-old and allowing him to make the left-flank spot his own during the latter stages of the campaign.

It was reported earlier that Spurs were willing to extend Tel’s stay at N17 beyond this season, but at a lower price. Daniel Levy saw the potential the Frenchman possessed and wanted to sign the forward permanently from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window. The German club were also interested in selling the forward as he did not fit into Vincent Kompany’s plans.
Now, the Lilywhites have received a massive boost in their efforts to sign Mathys Tel on a permanent deal. As per TBR football, Tel is keen to stay at Hotspur Way and wants to make the move permanent in the summer. The Frenchman has shown what he can do in recent games and believes that staying at N17 is best way for him to fulfil his potential. The aforementioned report also states that Spurs are willing to pay £33.5m plus potential performance-related add-ons instead of the agreed £50m.
It looks increasingly likely that Daniel Levy will succeed in keeping Tel at the club as the Tottenham chairman has good relations with Bayern Munich. Securing Champions League football for next season has also played a big part in convincing Mathys Tel to stay at N17 and continue his development in the Premier League.
