Tottenham Hotspur have had a very promising summer transfer window so far. The first major move they made was to bring in Thomas Frank from Brentford and the Dane has started off well with the signs that his team has shown in pre-season friendlies.
However, Spurs fans have been in an excellent mood since they lifted the Europa League under former manager Ange Postecoglou, breaking their long-time trophy drought. Thus, the expectations are sky high of what the team can do this season.
In terms of signings, Tottenham have made one exciting signing in the form of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United. The Ghanaian attacker has already settled into Frank’s tactical setup, based on how he has performed in pre-season friendlies.
However, one major blow that the Spurs squad is set to take this summer is Son Heung-Min’s departure. The South Korean is set to leave the club and join LA FC in MLS and he confirmed the same in a statement yesterday.
Sonny is a bonafide club legend, and his exit would leave a vacancy in the squad. Now, as per Fichajes (h/t Caught Offside), Tottenham remain keen on signing Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo even as Arsenal and Liverpool have cooled their interest in him.
The Brazilian is one of the best young attacking talents who has already proven himself on the biggest of occasions. However, he has kind of lost prominence at Los Blancos, where the squad is filled with superstars like Vinicius Jr., Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham amongst others.
Rodrygo lost prominence at Real Madrid towards the end of the 2024/25 season, and it carried on to Xabi Alonso’s era. The Spanish tactician used the 24-year-old sparingly during the recently concluded Club World Cup campaign.

Interest in the South American attacker, who has been labelled a “special striker”, has understandably been quite prevalent, especially from the Premier League. However, with the Reds and the Gunners cooling their interest, it provides a free run for Spurs to try and sign him.
Real Madrid are said to have set an asking price of around €90million (£78.5m) for Rodrygo this summer and it would be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to pay that kind of fee to sign him this summer.
With Son leaving, signing a superstar like Rodrygo could immediately help galvanise the team. It remains to be seen if the club manages to secure the Brazilian in the coming days, with not long left until the summer transfer window closes.
