Turning Point – Inter Milan Pivot To Signing Young Players From Abroad After Years Of Serie A Veterans

Inter Milan have reached a turning point in their transfer strategy, focusing on signing younger players and targeting outside Serie A.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908.

One thing that has been clear from Inter Milan this summer is that they are skewing younger in the transfer market.

For several years, the Nerazzurri have heavily relied on veterans. Players like Francesco Acerbi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have had key roles to play.

This summer, by contrast, Inter have signed 21-year-old Petar Sucic, 23-year-old Luis Henrique, and 21-ye ar-old Ange-Yoan Bonny.

Clearly, the remit has become for Inter to focus on younger players. Not prioritizing proven experience.

Inter Milan Pivot To Targeting Younger Players Outside Serie A

However, the Corriere note, Inter are not just shifting the focus to youth.

The Nerazzurri are also appearing more open to signing players from other leagues.

The majority of Inter’s big signings in recent seasons have come from within Serie A.

However, of the three players Inter have already signed this summer, two have come from outside of the Italian top flight.

Then, Inter have targeted the likes of Ademola Lookman and Manu Lookman as high-profile Serie A targets.

However, the Corriere notes, after missing out on those two, it now looks as though Inter will re-focus on signing players from abroad.
