Thomas Frank believes Daniel Levy built Tottenham into a competitive outfit in his 24 years at the helm

A lot has happened in the last one week at Tottenham that has shocked the footballing world in general. The Lilywhites announced the shock departure of Daniel Levy, with the Englishman ending his 24-year stint at N17. Not many were expecting the former Spurs chairman to depart the club suddenly, but the North London club’s hierarchy had different plans in place.

It is believed that the Lewis family made the change after growing tired of the lack of consistent success under Levy’s guidance. The club’s majority stakeholders thought that it was the right time to move on and shift the focus back on the thing that mattered the most… winning major trophies. And it is fair to say that they have made a statement of intent by relieving Daniel Levy from his duties.

In his 24-year stint as the Spurs chairman, the North London club only managed to win just two major trophies. The constant change of managers, lack of investment on the pitch, and the commercialisation of the club meant that it was the right decision to move on from Levy and his antics.

Thomas Frank praises Daniel Levy’s impact at Tottenham

One may say that Daniel Levy held Tottenham back from reaching its full potential. But it is important to remember that the Lilywhites came back on the map due to Levy’s strategic thinking and smart business acumen. The Englishman completely transformed the club in more ways than one… the world-class stadium, state-of-the-art training ground, and endless revenue streams to name a few.

Now, Thomas Frank has shared his verdict on Levy’s shock departure from N17. Speaking in his pre-match presser (via Football.london), Frank said,

“Daniel deserves massive praise. He’s been here 24 years, must be one of the longest chairmen that has been in the Premier League ever. The things he’s built, the success he’s been a massive part of, you can’t praise that enough.”

The Spurs manager added,

“I think the two big, big things is he’s actually laid I would say the foundation for the future in terms of this fantastic world-class training centre and of course a world-class stadium. Both those two we are at a top level so we can build from there to hopefully compete with the best clubs in the future. That is Daniel.”

Thomas Frank believes that Daniel Levy deserves ‘massive praise’ for turning Tottenham into a team that competes at the top regularly. The Danish tactician points out the world-class stadium and training facility, indicating that these two will always be a part of Levy’s legacy at N17. Frank also believes that the former Spurs chairman has given the Lilywhites a perfect platform to build on and cross the final hurdle of winning trophies.

Now, all eyes will be on how Spurs operate without the presence of Daniel Levy. For the first time in over two decades, the fans are excited to see what the future holds for the Lilywhites. The short-term goal for the North London club should be to build on the Europa League success and finish strong in the Premier League this season under Thomas Frank.
