Thursday’s reports claim that it has not yet been ruled out either way that Dusan Vlahovic ends up extending his contract at Juventus after failing to secure a move away from the club during the summer transfer window.
Juventus were expected to sell Vlahovic during the summer transfer window. The Serbia international is now into the final year of his contract, and will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club from January onwards as things stand.
Given that a move away from Turin did not materialise, Juventus run the risk of losing Vlahovic for free, despite investing €70m plus up to €10m in bonuses on his signing in 2022.
As things stand, Vlahovic will stay and fight for his place under Igor Tudor. He currently has two goals from his first two Serie A appearances of the season, both coming off the bench.
According to updates from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus have not yet made a decision either way when it comes to a potential contract extension for Vlahovic, but the Pink paper claims that this scenario can not be ruled out.
By extending his contract, Juventus would likely be able to spread the cost of Vlahovic’s hefty salary over multiple seasons, and would also lower the risk of losing him on a free transfer, potentially to a direct league rival.
