Vítor Pereira Takes Full Control With Wolves In Process of Huge Squad Overhaul

Wolverhampton Wanderers are undergoing a comprehensive transformation under Vítor Pereira. Handed unprecedented authority over recruitment, staffing and long-term planning, the Portuguese tactician is trying to build a squad to match his tactical blueprint, starting with moving out over ten players who don’t fit his vision, and surrounding himself with familiar faces in key positions. But while the philosophy is clear, the execution has left many fans worried, with only three new signings arriving so far amid a wave of senior departures.

Vítor Pereira Reshapes Wolves From Top to Bottom: Fan Concern Growing

Trusted Staff Join Club to Back Pereira’s Philosophy

Pereira hasn’t wasted time in establishing his identity at the club. He’s brought in two long-time collaborators, Bruno Moura and Felipe Almedia, to join his first team coaching staff. Both coaches have worked alongside Pereira at previous clubs (Fenerbaçhe, Shanghai and Corinthians), reinforcing his tactical framework and approach to match preparation.

In a key structural move, Wolves have also appointed Domenico Teti as director of football. Teti worked alongside Pereira at Al-Shabab and now plays a vital role in aligning recruitment with the manager’s vision, following the exit of former sporting director Matt Hobbs.

Big Names Made Available As Wolves Trim The Squad

Under Pereira’s overhaul, Wolves have already moved on several senior first-team players this summer. Matheus Cunha completed a big-money move to Manchester United, Rayan Aït-Nouri was sold to Manchester City, and Gonçalo Guedes departed for Real Sociedad. Craig Dawson, Nélson Semedo, and Pablo Sarabia were all allowed to leave at the end of their contracts, as well as Carlos Forbs returning to Ajax after his loan deal was not made permanent. Several fringe players were also moved on.

Meanwhile, Hwang Hee-chan, once considered a key forward, has been made available this summer and is attracting interest from multiple clubs. Wolves are also currently working on a deal for Fábio Silva to leave, with Roma, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig all interested in signing the former Wolves record signing. With so many established names leaving and only four signings so far (Fer López, Jørgen Strand Larsen, (permanently) Jhon Arias, and David Møller Wolfe) fans have been left concerned about the squad’s depth heading into the season.

Fans Concerned About Lack Of New Signings

While departures have dominated the headlines, only three new faces have come through the doors, raising eyebrows amongst the Molineux faithful. With many senior players gone, including the fifth captain in the last four years, and Pereira demanding a high-energy, system-driven style, fans are understandably concerned about squad depth and Premier League readiness heading into a new season.

Social media platforms and fan forums have seen a noticeable uptick in anxiety and anger towards the club’s owners. Many are pointing out that the club is lagging behind the overhaul happening elsewhere.

Rebuild Requires Patience, But Also Action

Despite concerns, the rebuild is clearly following a coherent direction. Pereira has more influence than any Wolves manager since Nuno Espírito Santo and is reshaping the club’s identity both on and off the pitch. The addition of trusted staff, a more unified recruitment process, and a clear tactical identity are positives, but they must be matched by investment in the playing squad.

The next few weeks will be crucial. If Wolves can bring in the right profiles before the transfer window closes, Pereira may yet deliver a new, sustainable era at Molineux. But for now, fans wait nervously to see if the vision off the pitch will be matched by the results on it.
