Jurgen Klopp has finally opened up about his touchline confrontation with Mo Salah, describing the incident as “not a real big thing” during a revealing appearance on The Diary of a CEO podcast.
The former Liverpool boss reflected on the moment from April 2024 when the pair clashed on the sidelines at the London Stadium during a 2–2 draw with West Ham United.
Salah had been preparing to come on as a substitute when he appeared to take issue with a message from Klopp, with the exchange playing out in full view of the cameras.
The situation even prompted Darwin Nunez to step in and defuse tensions.
Speaking about that moment, Klopp said: “We had this one argument, I think with Mo at West Ham on the sideline when he didn’t start and I brought him on and he was not happy.
“The problem is our problems then are always in public. That was not a real big thing, but in the moment we didn’t agree definitely.”
He added that their relationship remains strong today: “We have a very good relationship today, even though on that day it didn’t look like it.”
At the time, the spat caused a stir among fans and pundits, particularly given how crucial that match was during our push for the Premier League title.
Salah’s frustration was visible, but Klopp’s comments now confirm it was little more than a brief disagreement between two highly driven figures.
Away from that flashpoint, the 58-year-old also touched on his future, leaving the door ajar for a potential Anfield comeback.
“I said I would never coach another team in England, so that means if – then it’s Liverpool. So, yeah, theoretically, it’s possible.”
Those words will inevitably spark excitement among us, given everything Klopp achieved on Merseyside — from ending our 30-year wait for a league title to building the high-pressing, relentless style that has become synonymous with modern Liverpool.
That philosophy continues to shape how we play under Arne Slot, who has retained much of Klopp’s attacking identity while adding his own tactical nuances.
Whether or not the former boss ever returns, his latest comments offer clarity on an incident that once caused headlines — and remind us of the mutual respect that still defines his relationship with one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever forwards.
