Welcome: officially, Tottenham sign Omar Marmoush

A remarkable deal

Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the signing of Egypt international Omar Marmoush from Manchester City on Thursday. The season-long loan carries an obligation to make the deal permanent next summer.

The London club welcomed Marmoush on its official website under the headline "Welcome, Omar", confirming the Egyptian forward joins Roberto De Zerbi's project as one of the summer window's most prominent arrivals.

Marmoush could not hide his delight at completing the move. "It's a great feeling to be here, I'm very excited to start my journey with the team and I can't wait to meet the fans," he said.

"Tottenham is one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world, and the club's project was very attractive to me," he added. "I spoke with the manager and I was very impressed by what he said, and I'm confident that our passion for football will help us achieve success together."

Sporting director Johan Lange framed the signing as a statement of intent. "Omar is a player of great quality, and he has proven his ability to shine at the highest levels," he said. "We believe he will be an important element in achieving our goals over the coming years, and we look forward to seeing him make a strong addition to the team."

De Zerbi went further in his praise. "Omar is exactly the type of player we want at this club," the manager explained. "He is an ambitious player, hungry for success, and possesses exceptional attacking quality, along with pace, intelligence and a threat in front of goal. I believe he is capable of taking our attacking strength to a new level."

Tottenham's statement traced Marmoush's career from his emergence with Wadi Degla, through his move to Wolfsburg and a bright loan spell at Stuttgart. His star truly rose at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he scored 37 goals and provided 20 assists in 67 matches.

A January 2025 move to Manchester City followed. Marmoush hit the ground running in the Premier League, scoring a hat-trick against Newcastle United and winning the award for the league's best goal of the season. He also helped City lift the League Cup and the FA Cup before this switch to north London.

On the international stage, Marmoush has 55 caps for Egypt and 11 goals. He has featured at three editions of the Africa Cup of Nations and made his World Cup debut this summer, now continuing his career at one of the Premier League's biggest clubs.
