Declan Rice was missing from the Arsenal squad for their match against Fleetwood Town, and most people would believe Mikel Arteta was just resting one of his most important players. The midfielder has been a key man for them since he joined the Gunners and so far, he has been in fantastic form for them each time he plays.

Arsenal is filled with quality players, and everyone would expect even their second-string side to beat Fleetwood in the League Cup, so it was one of the biggest shocks of the decade that they have been knocked out, and to do so in an embarrassing manner. History repeated itself again, and it was not the best one for Arsenal, and they will now look forward to bouncing back, but why did Rice not even make the squad?

Rice’s Injury Explained

If he had, he probably would have been subbed on in the second half for Arsenal to find a winner, but that did not happen, and Arteta has now revealed he missed the game because he was injured. The gaffer said via Standard Sports:

“Declan was feeling a problem the other day, which is why I had to substitute him.”

Arsenal Must Bounce Back

Rice’s absence does not justify the defeat, and Arsenal simply has to beat teams like Fleetwood Town when they meet them in any competition.

Rice’s injury is a concern, but the team must adapt. The coming matches must see an improvement, and the fans will hope for his swift return. The focus now shifts to the next game.
