In what had been an exciting season for Real Madrid, everything came to an end with their elimination in the Champions League against Bayern Munich. However, in that match, several details came to light.
The first was the lack of efficiency in defending on the flanks, but more importantly, the team’s dependence on Arda Güler to deliver a strong performance.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid posted their latest injury report, and it turns out the report is horrible news for the Merengues. A crucial player will be out for the remainder of the season.
The report released by Real Madrid on April 23 indicates that Arda Güler will not be available against Real Betis due to a muscle injury in the biceps femoris of his right leg.
The young Turkish player is set to miss the remainder of the season, and his participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup is now in doubt.
The injury occurred during training the day before the La Liga match. The news came as a surprise, as the Turkish player had featured without any issues in the 2–1 victory over Deportivo Alavés
Not only did he have a strong performance, with flashes of brilliance, but he also provided the assist to Kylian Mbappé for the first goal, giving the home team the lead.
Arda Güler has earned his place in the starting lineup since Álvaro Arbeloa took charge of the team. Under the previous head coach, Xabi Alonso, the young attacker didn’t carry the same weight he does today; instead, he was a second or even third option.
In the current season, Arda Güler has played 50 matches, 40 of them as a starter, scoring 6 goals and providing 14 assists.
Nowadays, Real Madrid looks far less dynamic without Arda Güler on the pitch. Without the Turkish playmaker, the Merengue tend to become overly tactical or rely heavily on counterattacks.
With Güler on the pitch, Real Madrid plays with greater attacking fluidity, relying less on isolated moments of brilliance from Vinícius Júnior or Kylian Mbappé and more on cohesive, collective play.
