After Luis Suarez's latest statement on the spitting incident and the aftermath of the match against Seattle Sounders, the Leagues Cup has officially revealed the sanction the Inter Miami striker will receive.

Tom Bogert from GiveMeSport reports that the Leagues Cup gave Suarez a six-game suspension for next year's tournament. That officially rules Suarez out for the tournament next year.

Leagues Cup also revealed that Sergio Busquets and Tomas Aviles will receive match bans for next year's tournament. Busquets will be suspended for two games, while Aviles will be suspended for three.

Seattle Sounders coach Steven Lenhart will also face a match suspension; he will miss five games. All the sanctions are for the 2026 Leagues Cup. These sanctions are not exclusive to the MLS.

Many believe the league should follow the same punishment for players like Suarez. There is still a possibility the league will announce sanctions for Suarez and others.

MLS Expected to Release Official Punishment for Luis Suarez

According to Tom Bogert, the MLS may sanction Luis Suarez and other players involved in the brawl after Inter Miami vs Seattle Sounders over the weekend.

Many MLS fans believe the sanction to be exclusive only for Leagues Cup games is unfair since Suarez or Busquets are expected to stay at Inter Miami next year. Both their contracts expire at the end of the 2025 MLS Season.

MLS could potentially release a statement or announce sanctions for Suarez and others before next week's MLS match weekend. There will be MLS action this weekend, but there will only be four matches.

Inter Miami's next match will be on September 13 against Charlotte FC at Bank of America Stadium.

Inter Miami condemned the actions of their players in an official statement but did not announce sanctions for their players. After the Leagues Cup's sanctions, all eyes are on MLS's decision on whether or not they will suspend Suarez and other Inter Miami players.
