Wolverhampton Wanderers’ season so far has been one of disappointment, mounting pressure, low confidence, and a lack of any momentum. Under manager Vítor Pereira, the club has struggled in the Premier League, and now faces the challenge of upsetting Chelsea in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at Molineux. With the cup competition offering a chance at redemption, this match gives them a chance to restore belief. Here is our Wolves predicted lineup.
Wolves once again went with a 4-3-3 formation in their most recent Premier League match against Burnley. Sam Johnstone kept his place in goal with Ki-Jana Hoever, Santiago Bueno, Ladislav Krejčí, and Hugo Bueno in front of him.
The midfield consisted of Marshall Munetsi, André, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde. The forward trio was Jørgen Strand Larsen, Jhon Arias, and Rodrigo Gomes.
The Wanderers head into this fixture in dire domestic form. They are the only team in England’s top seven divisions without a win and sit on just two points after nine Premier League games. The frustration among supporters boiled over after a 3-2 home defeat to Burnley, in which Wolves fought back from two goals down only to concede late. Pereira later said he “understood the fans’ frustration” after confronting them at full-time.
Despite their struggles in the league, Wolves have found some respite in this competition, beating both West Ham and Everton in the previous rounds. Pereira will be hoping that knockout football can provide the mental reset his players desperately need.
Wolves have no fresh injury concerns ahead of this game.
