The Premier League season starts on Saturday, August 16, with Wolverhampton Wanderers taking on Manchester City at Molineux. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. BST (12:30 p.m. ET, 9:30 a.m. PT).

City begin their season aiming to climb from last season's third-place finish, while Wolves are aiming to forget about last season's struggles, when they finished in 16th place.

In the UK, the match is to be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event and also streamed on Now TV. In the U.S., it can be found on NBC’s channels, including USA Network and CNBC, along with live streaming on Peacock.

Predicted Lineups

Wolves (3–4–2–1): José Sá; Matt Doherty, Emmanuel Agbadou, Toti Gomes; Ki-Jana Hoever, David Møller Wolfe, João Gomes, André; Fer López, Jhon Arias; Jørgen Strand Larsen.

Manchester City (4–1–4–1): James Trafford; João Cancelo, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Rayan Aït-Nouri; Maxence Caqueret; Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Bernardo Silva, Amine Harit; Erling Haaland.

Team News and Injuries

Wolves welcome Yerson Mosquera back into the squad after almost a year out with an ACL injury, but he won't start. Summer signings David Møller Wolfe, Fer López and Jhon Arias are all in line for debuts, with Møller Wolfe likely to play left wing back.

Gary O'Neil will be hoping his new signings settle quickly as they face one of the toughest tests in the Premier League.

Manchester City have Rodri back fit but may manage his minutes. Phil Foden is also available again, so Pep Guardiola has another option.

City will still be without Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovačić, Ederson and Savinho so there's space for new faces. James Trafford is set to start in goal, while Rayan Cherki, Sverre Nypan and Tijjani Reijnders are also in the mix for debuts.

Head-to-Head

City have dominated Wolves in recent seasons, winning four of the last five league meetings and scoring 14–5. Stretching back further City have won 16 of the last 23 meetings in all competitions.

But Molineux hasn't always been a happy hunting ground for Guardiola's side; Wolves have won four of the 11 Premier League games against the champions at home. That history suggests this might not be as straightforward as the numbers first look.

Match Prediction

City are big favourites and are expected to win, and the most likely score, due to their attacking depth and record in this fixture.

Wolves will hope their new signings and the home crowd can make life difficult but the balance of quality is with City. Bookies have City at 63% to win, Wolves at 16% and the draw at 21%.
