Thomas Frank has swapped Brentford for Tottenham Hotspur, and he has a lot of work to do to turn the North London club’s fortunes around.
The Dane will want to strengthen every area of the pitch after Spurs’ struggles in the Premier League last season. The focus is expected to be in attack, as doubts are raised over Richarlison and Son Heung-min.
Richarlison failed to put his injury problems behind him for another term, and it looks unlikely that the fans will ever get to see the Brazilian’s version of his Everton days. There is every possibility that the club cuts their losses on him this summer. Meanwhile, Son Heung-min appears to be nearing the end of his decade-long chapter at Tottenham. Saudi clubs are circling him, and the Hotspur Way chiefs remain open to cashing him in.
Dominic Solanke, Spurs’ record signing, had an up-and-down debut season in North London. He wasn’t helped by a lack of depth up front, something the club bosses are planning to address during this transfer window. And in a bid to do so, Tottenham have been exploring the possibility of signing Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The future of Dominic Solanke at Everton is uncertain, with his contract expiring at the end of June (Transfermarkt). He struggled with injury yet again throughout this past campaign, making just 26 Premier League appearances.
Now, Dr Rajpal Brar has assessed the fitness of Calvert-Lewin. The injury expert feels Spurs will want to have a closer look at this extensive injury issue before making a final decision on signing the striker on a potential free transfer from Everton.
“Spurs may take a closer look at his hamstring injuries and injury recurrences, along with potential impact on his fitness,” Dr Rajpal Brar exclusively told Tottenham News.
“Extensive injury history relative to minutes played.
“This one is a potential yellow flag for his medical, as there are concerns.”
Calvert-Lewin has been extremely injury prone, barely managing to stay fit in recent seasons at Goodison Park. The Englishman missed close to four months this past season due to two separate injury. In fact, since the start of 2021/22 campaign, he has missed 83 games in total for the Toffees, which is enough of a red flag for Spurs to stay clear of him.
Instead, the Hotspur Way chiefs must not hesitate to splash the cash in the transfer market and sign Rennes striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, who is coming off a strong season in Ligue 1 and can develop his game further under Frank.
