The surfing world has come together, far and wide, to support Dakota Briley.

Back in June, 20-year-old Briley (who is the son of legendary Pipeline surfer, Shawn Briley) was struck by a car while standing on Kamehameha Highway on the North Shore of Oahu. He was pinned between two vehicles, and suffered life-threatening injuries.

Since then, Dakota has been on a road to recovery, enduring multiple surgeries, and fighting his way back. And now, with an online auction – featuring everything from signed Kelly Slater and John John Florence surfboards, to luxury hotel stays – the surf world is rallying to support Dakota as he continues to heal. Hear his words of appreciation below.

According to the auction site:

“Thanks to the incredible work of his medical team, the outpouring of love and prayers from around the world, and a period of intense recovery over 2.5 months, Dakota has made it through several major surgeries and is much more stable now.

“However, his journey is far from over.

“Due to the severity of his brain and spine injuries, Dakota relocated to a specialized rehab facility in Colorado in order to receive the necessary therapy and long-term support his recovery demands. All contributions for this auction will go to supporting Dakota's healing and long-term care.”

As mentioned, the online auction includes personal surfboards from some of the best in the world – Kelly Slater ($5,500), John John Florence ($5,500), Kai Lenny ($5,500), Jamie O’Brien ($3,777), and others.

In Dakota’s own words from a wheelchair:

“Thank you all for supporting me. I really appreciate it, if you can participate in the online auction. Thank you guys so much. I feel all your love. It means a lot to me. It makes my heart happy.”

The auction will be live from September 6th-15th; check it out here.
