The quarterfinals are set at the ATP Stockholm Open, and all four top seeds have made their way into the last eight. This article features #2 seed Casper Ruud, who will take on Sebastian Korda in a thrilling encounter. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But which players will advance to the semifinals?

ATP Stockholm Quarterfinal Predictions

Ugo Humbert vs Lorenzo Sonego

Head-to-Head: Humbert 5-3 Sonego

Ugo Humbert is one of the most dangerous players on the tour on indoor hard courts, and he got a great win against Matteo Berrettini in the second round. It was a high-quality match from both players, but Humbert defended his second serve better and never let his guard down. Lorenzo Sonego had a similar performance as he did a much better job behind his second serve to defeat Aleksandar Kovacevic. These two know each other well, as this will be their ninth meeting. Humbert has never lost to Sonego outside of clay and will have a slight advantage.
Prediction: Humbert in 3

Denis Shapovalov vs Elias Ymer

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Denis Shapovalov is off to another good start at the Stockholm Open, a tournament where he has enjoyed a lot of success over the years. Shapovalov should have won the match in straight sets, but he made up for it in the third set. Elias Ymer played the best match of his season to defeat Jacob Fearnley in straight sets. Ymer was brilliant from start to finish and dominated the rallies with his forehand. He will need to play at a similar level again to challenge Shapovalov.
Prediction: Shapovalov in 3

Holger Rune vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry

Head-to-Head: Rune 1-0 Etcheverry

Holger Rune played some great tennis in key moments to defeat a very good Marton Fucsovics in straight sets. Rune saved eight of the nine break points he faced and should be happy with his performance under pressure. This is Rune’s third consecutive tournament where he has reached the quarterfinals, and he will look to advance further this time around. Tomas Martin Etcheverry is a tough opponent, but Rune has the game to win this if he plays well.
Prediction: Rune in 3

Casper Ruud vs Sebastian Korda

Head-to-Head: Ruud 1-0 Korda

Casper Ruud took an early exit in Shanghai, but it gave him time to work on his game and be fresh this week for a possible title run. He had a tough opening match against Marin Cilic, and he handled it with aplomb. He was brilliant in the whole match and barely made unforced errors. If he can sustain that level, it will be hard for anyone to beat him. Sebastian Korda’s game suits the indoor courts, and he will present a great challenge to the Norwegian. I won’t be surprised if this match goes the distance.
Prediction: Ruud in 3
