Some exciting matches are scheduled on Day 2 of the ATP Winston-Salem Open, including the match of Sebastian Korda, who is making his return from injury after being sidelined for over two months. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But who will advance?

ATP Winston-Salem Day 2 Predictions

Hugo Gaston vs Marton Fucsovics

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Hugo Gaston has won just one match in the last month, and that’s not the ideal form to bring against a dangerous opponent like Marton Fucsovics, who had a good run at Wimbledon and will be fresh to get some match wins before the US Open. This will be Fucsovics’ first hard-court match in a while, so he might take some time to settle, but he has the advantage when he finds his range.
Prediction: Fucsovics in 3

Francisco Comesana vs Mattia Bellucci

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Francisco Comesana had his best run on a hard court in Cincinnati, winning three matches and reaching the fourth round. He displayed a great level and will be hard to beat if he can do the same this week. Mattia Bellucci is a tricky opponent and recently won the Sumter Challenger. He has shown earlier this year how effective he can be on this surface, but his recent form at the Tour-level is bad. If Comesana serves well, he should win this.
Prediction: Comesana in 3

Borna Coric vs Darwin Blanch

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Former semifinalist Borna Coric is going through the worst phase of his career as he has yet to win a Tour-level match this season. Currently on a four-match losing streak in all competitions, Coric will drop outside the Top 100 if he loses this match. However, he has a great record at this tournament, which might give him some confidence. 17-year-old Darwin Blanch survived a tight match against Valentin Royer to qualify for the main draw. He is looking for his first Tour-level win, and I can see that happening if he believes.
Prediction: Blanch in 3

Sebastian Korda vs Vit Kopriva

Head-to-Head: Korda 1-0 Kopriva

Injuries have hampered Sebastian Korda in the last two seasons as he makes his return after over two months due to a back injury suffered at the French Open against Frances Tiafoe. He has a tough opener against Vit Kopriva, who pushed the American player to five sets at the 2024 Australian Open. Kopriva has a great chance to take revenge and win consecutive tour-level matches for the first time on this surface. Korda is the better player, but it’s hard to predict his level after a long break.
Prediction: Kopriva in 3
