Carlos Alcaraz adds to growing legacy with unique statistic following epic comeback win in French Open final

The 2025 French Open came to a conclusion on Sunday, with the men's final featuring a memorable match between rivals Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Both men were on a collision course for the final during the two week Grand Slam event, as each athlete cruised past the competition. Despite Sinner establishing a two sets to love lead, it as his Spanish opponent who saved three championship points to win the match and capture his fifth Grand Slam singles title.

Alcaraz joins Big 3 with impressive statistic

After successfully defending his French Open crown, Alcaraz has ensured he has won a Grand Slam title in the past four consecutive years. The 22-year old won the US Open in 2022, Wimbledon in 2023, Roland Garros and Wimbledon in 2024 and now this year's French Open title.

By virtue of his latest victory, Alcaraz becomes just the fourth player this century to win a men's singles Grand Slam title for four consecutive years. The other three are well known in tennis history, namely the Big three of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have all achieved this feat.

The young Spaniard has been touted as the torchbearer for the next generation of tennis stars, alongside rival Jannik Sinner. The Italian lifted the Australian Open title earlier this year, after winning the US Open last September. With the Wimbledon Championships only a few weeks away, both men will be eager to add to their Grand Slam tally. Alcaraz currently sits at five trophies, whereas Sinner is holding his own with three Major singles titles.
