Coco Gauff Sends Parting Message After French Open

Coco Gauff is officially a two-time Grand Slam winner after taking the French Open crown in the women's singles tournament.

The 21-year-old star beat Aryna Sabalenka in the final on Saturday, although she needed all three sets to take down the World No. 1. Sabalenka won the opening set, but her uncharacteristic performance — highlighted by her 70 unforced errors — and Gauff's stellar defense eventually doomed her.

Gauff also did well using her lob shots to make life hard for Sabalenka. The young American hit 16 lob shots, compared to her Belarusian opponent's one.

With the win, Gauff claimed her first French Open title and second Grand Slam trophy after winning the US Open in 2023.

While she has left Paris and has returned to the United States, as shown in her Instagram Stories on Sunday, Coco Gauff made sure to show her appreciation for the City of Love following her victory.

"thank you for celebrating with me paris," Gauff wrote on Instagram, along with several photos of her posing with the Suzanne-Lenglen Cup in front of a massive crowd.

She added, "and thank you everyone for all of the love you have given me, it truly means a lot."

It's certainly an unforgettable run in Paris for Gauff, especially since winning the French Open represents redemption for her after losing there in the final in 2022.

To make it even better, Gauff made U.S. tennis history by becoming the fifth American woman to have multiple Grand Slam titles at the age of 21 or younger. She joined an elite list that features Serena Williams, Chris Evert, Venus Williams and Tracy Austin.
