'Competitive' Carlos Alcaraz draws inspiration from Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer as he inches closer to a glorious legacy for Spain

Carlos Alcaraz said in his Argentine Open 2024 press conference that the records and standards that the Big 3 of tennis, namely Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal, have set always keep him motivated to achieve more.

The only active player out of them, that is, Novak Djokovic, is one of his biggest competitors and the two of them had a great battle in 2023 for the year-end World No. 1 title, which was ultimately won by Novak Djokovic.

I'm a very competitive, very ambitious guy. I always want to win everything, it is what drives me to continue training at my highest level, to continue going to the tournaments with a lot of desire to get more titles... seeing Djokovic up there, the players who are winning titles now, is something that motivates me to be able to be at the same level as them; also speaking of the Big Three, it motivates me to get closer to them. While talking about his biggest competitors right now, the Spaniard named Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, and Alexander Zverev.

He snubbed Russia’s Daniil Medvedev from the list, who defeated him recently in the semifinal of the 2023 US Open. It was only after this loss that there was a significant dip in Alcaraz’s form, which resulted in him losing out to Novak Djokovic in the battle to become the year-end World No. 1

Furthermore, he also revealed that one of his major goals in 2024 will be to win an Olympic medal. He said that if he had to choose between winning a major and winning an Olympic gold, Alcaraz would prefer to win an Olympic gold because he considers it to be the pinnacle and the biggest achievement in any sport out there.

Carlos Alcaraz’s draw in the Argentina Open 2024

Carlos Alcaraz is the top seed of the 2024 Argentina Open, and he is expected to win the tournament with ease. He has obviously received a bye in the first round and will directly play in the quarterfinals.

His most likely opponent for the quarterfinals is Thiago Seyboth Wild, and his most likely opponent for the semifinals is Tomas Martin Etcheverry or Stan Wawrinka. His most likely opponent in the final will be Cameron Norrie.

The Spaniard made his debut in the Argentina Open last season, and he won the title with ease. He will now try to defend his title this year, and his path will most definitely be easy as he is at a much superior level right now compared to the other participating players.

After this, the Spaniard will shift his focus to Indian Wells, which is another tournament where Alcaraz is the defending champion.
