Emma Raducanu kicked off her Queen's Club Championships campaign with a comfortable win, defeating Cristina Bucsa in the first round. The former US Open champion made light work of the Spaniard, securing a 6-1, 6-2 victory in just an hour and five minutes of play.

The World No. 37 had received a wildcard entry into the tournament after not qualifying directly, and she begins her grass-court swing with a decisive win. Raducanu currently stands as the British No. 1 in the Live Rankings.

First Set

Everything was quite comfortable for the Brit from the very first set. Both players held their initial service games, but Bucsa offered little resistance thereafter. After the score reached 1-1, Raducanu won the next five games consecutively, converting two out of three break points in her favor.

Raducanu was nearly unplayable on her serve, winning 91% of points on her first serve and 70% on her second. She finished the set by winning 10 consecutive service points and performed well on return, securing 53% of points.

Second Set

Raducanu's momentum carried directly into the second set. She immediately secured two consecutive breaks, totaling four in a row, and with her serve, she impeccably reached 4-0, still without conceding a single break point in the match.

Bucsa showed a slight flicker of reaction when she managed to hold her service game again and then had her first break chance of the match. However, Raducanu navigated through the only complicated moment of the set, preventing a larger comeback from her opponent, and sealed the 6-1, 6-2 victory with her serve, guaranteeing her spot in the second round of the Queen's Club Championships.

Raducanu now awaits the winner between Rebecca Sramakova and the 2024 Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova in the next round.
