The Rabat Open takes place between 19-24 May 2025 also known as Grand Prix Sar La Princesse Lalla Meryem with the Entry List set for the WTA 250 precursor to Roland Garros.
Last year saw Peyton Stearns crowned champion. As of time of writing, she is still in action in Rome but will head to Morocco to attempt to retain her title. She famously did a handstand lifting her trophy last year.
Defeating Mayar Sherif in the final who will return this year as third seed behind Stearns and also the top seed in Elina Avanesyan. The Armenian lost in the opening round of Rome to Elisabetta Cocciaretto.
She also lost in the opening round in Madrid so is not having a good clay court season so far. Her last win was against Erika Andreeva in Miami back in March so an important week awaits. Bogota champion, Camila Osorio no doubt will be one of the favourites too to lift the title.
While Alexandra Eala is pretty low down on the Entry List but the Filipino star will look to continue her exceptional start to 2025. Her Miami run in particular captured the imagination and she nearly beat Swiatek again in Madrid to show herself as a dual court threat.
She is teaming with Coco Gauff as of time of writing in Rome doubles and will hope for singles success when she returns to the court next week. It forms part of a double with Internationaux de Strasbourg which is a WTA 500. Both tournaments take place mere days before Roland Garros.
