Just days before the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, World No.1 Jannik Sinner announced he had parted ways with fitness trainer Marco Panichi and physiotherapist Ulises Badio. However, Panichi appears to have landed on his feet as he has been recruited by another star on the ATP Tour.
Sinner began working with both Panichi and Badio during the 2024 season, with both men having previously collaborated with 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic. During their partnership, the duo assisted Sinner in winning multiple Grand Slam titles.
Nonetheless, their deal came to an end as Sinner revealed he had parted ways with both men just prior to the commencement of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. The World No.1 would go on to win the title at SW19, overcoming a troublesome elbow injury in the process.
It did not take long for Panichi to move on, as the Italian fitness trainer is set to join the camp of Danish tennis star Holger Rune. The 22-year old's mother and manager, Aneke Rune, confirmed Panichi will be joining her son's team at the start of the upcoming Cincinnati Open.
"We will welcome Marco Panichi to the team," says Aneke Rune in a statement through Danish outlet BT. "He brings enormous experience - not just in the physical aspect, but everything related to building a Grand Slam winner. That takes the idea up another notch.
“We know Marco very well and have always had a really good relationship with him. And he has always liked Holger. He is in a special class, so it is a huge capacity to have in the team.
“The way he works, and the way he worked with Novak Djokovic, is very much the way we see a fitness coach in a team where he will also be active in training."
After being coached by Bris Becker and Patrick Mouratoglou, Rune is no stranger to working with high-profile coaches. The former World No.4 spent three days working with tennis great Andre Agassi, as he prepares to navigate the North American hard court series.
