Tennis star Jack Draper has been one of the breakout stars of the 2025 ATP season. Despite missing two ATP Masters 1000 tournaments due to injury, the British player has admitted to being refreshed and ready to make a deep run at the upcoming US Open.
The 23-year old won the biggest title of his career at the 2025 Indian Wells, tournament, defeating former World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz en route to the final. Draper would face Danish star Holger Rune for the title, recording a straight sets victory to win his first ATP Masters 1000 title.
Subsequently, Draper would break into the top 10, reaching a career-high ranking of World No.4 in June. However, an injury sustained earlier during the season would force him to withdraw from both the Canadian Open and the ongoing Cincinnati Open Masters events.
Nonetheless, Draper appears ready to return to the courts. With Flushing Meadows only a few weeks away, the London native revealed he is feeling refreshed and motivated ahead of the New York Grand Slam.
"I found out I had an injury in my arm, which I had been playing with for a little while,” admitted Draper in an interview with the LTA. “The doctors and my team advised me that I’d need to take some time out. I had a few days off, so I chilled and took my mind off tennis. Then I was really motivated to come back and do a really good fitness block and work myself hard physically to make some good gains.
“I got back to my tennis slowly to protect my arm, but it’s been a really productive few weeks now. It was disappointing to miss Toronto and Cincinnati, but I think it’s been a good period for me to reflect on things and improve.
“I’m really looking forward to going out to the US Open, and I’m in a great place personally and tennis-wise. I feel refreshed, motivated, and I can’t wait to get back out there."
