Danish tennis star Holger Rune was one of the several ATP stars amazed by the epic showdown between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at the 2025 French Open final, stating the two finalists motivated him to improve his game.

Alcaraz and Sinner faced off on Phillipe Chatrier stadium, with the Spaniard hoping to retain his title. Conversely, Sinner was looking to add a Roland Garros trophy to his cabinet. After five and a half thrilling hours, it was Alcaraz who prevailed in a fifth set tiebreak, dropping to the ground in joy and disbelief.

Rune astounded by the level of tennis in the final

The former World No.4 admitted to being stupefied by the level of tennis during the final, as each player displayed their advanced level of physicality and mental toughness. With both men setting the bar high, Rune feels compelled to raise his level of tennis if he hopes to compete with the two stars.

"The first thing that came to mind when I saw the Roland Garros final was that when someone plays at this level, with the showcased physical shape, honestly, there is no better or harder sport," said Rune. "People can say what they want, but it's impossible to match that. It shows how much tennis has improved and that it requires an insane level to reach the top. It motivates me a lot to push even harder."

The Danish star is currently competing at the 2025 Queen's Club Championships, as he prepares for the upcoming Wimbledon tournament. Rune is scheduled to take on Roberto Bautista Agut in the quarterfinals, after the Spanish veteran upset eighth-seeded Czech star Jakub Mensik in the round of 16.
