Great Britain will have do to without one of it's top stars during their Davis Cup group match against Poland next weekend, as World No.5 Jack Draper has announced his withdrawal from the multinational event.

The Davis Cup Group match will take place in Gdynia, Poland from September 12-13, a week after the conclusion of the 2025 US Open. However, Draper, who was initially listed to spearhead his team, will not be able to participate at the event.

Having been sidelined since Wimbledon due to a bone bruise in his left arm, Draper returned to the courts at the US Open with hopes of possibly winning his maiden Grand Slam title. However, the 23-year old reaggravated his left arm injury prior to his second round match in New York, forcing him to withdraw from the last Grand Slam of the season.

Although Draper and Team Great Britain were looking on the optimistic side with regards to the London native leading his team in Gdynia, the event comes too soon as he has been unable to recuperate. There is no timeline as to when he will return to the ATP Tour.

Norrie to lead Great Britain to battle

With Draper no longer in contention, compatriot Cameron Norrie will take the helms as Great Britain travels to Poland for the Davis Cup clash. The former World No.8 missed the first-round defeat by Japan in February, but has been confirmed for next weekend's tie.

Norrie will be accompanied by rising British star Jacob Fearnley, who fell to third seed Alexander Zverev in the second round at the 2025 US Open. Wimbledon doubles champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool will be making their Davis Cup debut for Great Britain, and they will be joined by compatriot Arthur Fery.

“It goes without saying that obviously it’s a real shame that we can’t call upon Jack Draper to be in the team with his injury and of course we wish him the best with his recovery and for the rest of the season." said Great Britain Davis Cup captain Leon Smith.
