Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek Face Fresh Criticism from Nick Kyrgios After Wimbledon Triumph

Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner were crowned as 2025 Wimbledon champions. These were the two high-profile players who sparked massive controversy last year when they failed the drug test.

Sinner was contaminated by clostebol, while Swiatek tested positive for trimetazidine. Both of them received ‘lenient’ punishment, given that Swiatek was banned only for one month, while Sinner, due to the negligence of his team members, was handed a three-month ban, missing no Grand Slam tournaments.

Despite being in the midst of controversy, Sinner continued to play a high level of tennis on a consistent basis, but Swiatek, since her victory at the French Open last year, was struggling to reach finals and win titles. The Wimbledon trophy is her first title since that Roland Garros win.

In the final, she stormed past Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0, becoming the second player after Steffi Graf to hand a double bagel to her opponent in a Grand Slam final. Sinner, on the other hand, overcame his arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz in four sets.

During the Championships, Nick Kyrgios had been praising both Swiatek and Sinner for their performances. Kyrgios even lauded Sinner for how he played right after serving his doping ban.

But on social media, he has again started taking jibes at them. When Sinner wrapped up Wimbledon in his favorite, he took to X and simply posted an asterisk.

Recently a user on Instagram mocked Kyrgios by posting a clip of a skeleton that mimicked throwing something, writing how the TV remote slipped from Kyrgios’ hands while watching Sinner and Swiatek winning the Wimbledon title. The Aussie noticed the post and dropped a comment, censuring the two Grand Slam champions once again.

Is this the same action when they took the substance as well.

Nick Kyrgios wrote on Instagram

That clip referred to the Kyrgios’ antics at the 2019 Citi Open, during which he violently threw a bottle at the umpire’s chair. Later, he defended himself by saying the bottle ‘slipped’ out of his hand.

Andy Roddick lauds Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz’s conduct after Wimbledon

When Jannik Sinner won the last point of the Wimbledon final against Carlos Alcaraz, Sinner simply raised his arms up in the air. Then both the rivals exchanged some words during the customary handshake, following which he kneeled down for quite a few seconds. Former ATP pro Andy Roddick gave his verdict on Sinner’s celebrations.

With all that he has had to go through mentally in the last year, my sigh of relief would have been a lot louder than what Sinner did. I mean I would have been screaming to the heavens. A mixture of joy, relief, anger, all of those things. But Sinner is classier than most, I will tell you that!

Andy Roddick said on his Served podcast

A month ago, Sinner was on the verge of ending their French Open in the fourth set, but he ended up squandering three championship points and Alcaraz made an emphatic comeback and eventually defended his title. Sinner how holds a 5-8 head-to-head record over the five-time Grand Slam champion.

So is Carlos Alcaraz. He knew what Jannik went through after Roland Garros. He fully understood. Although he wasn’t happy, I like seeing them converse on the net and the footage of them always being extremely friendly and cordial when they are at the practice courts and they see each other.

Andy Roddick added

Sinner has now become the first Italian player to win Wimbledon. Had Alcaraz won, he would have become the fifth man in the Open Era to win three consecutive Wimbledon titles and the second man to complete the Channel Slam for consecutive seasons.
