'Not much I can improve': Jannik Sinner after Roland Garros masterclass
Kyodo News

Jannik Sinner reflected on his remarkable third-round victory at Roland Garros against Jiri Lehecka, admitting he "doesn't think there's much he can improve" after dropping just three games against the world No. 34.

The three-time Grand Slam champion has now reached the second week of a Grand Slam for the eighth consecutive time and holds a 17-match winning streak in major tournaments. Sinner opened the match with 11 consecutive games before sealing a 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 victory, in which he tallied 31 winners and only 9 unforced errors.

The Italian also boasts 64 wins against players outside the top-20, showcasing his high effectiveness against lower-ranked opponents. "After today I don't think there's much I can improve but every opponent is different," Sinner stated. "This morning I said to my team I'm feeling well and physically ready. We had to go hard in the beginning because the beginning is very important for confidence."

The world No. 1 quickly demonstrated that he can reach his top level in just his second tournament after three months off court due to a doping ban. He has eight wins in nine matches (a 15-1 record for the year), with his only loss coming against Carlos Alcaraz in the Rome Open final two weeks ago.

In pursuit of a quarterfinal spot, he will face world No. 17 Andrey Rublev, one of the few players who has bested him in the last two years. Sinner has lost only seven matches since the start of 2024, four of them to Alcaraz, and one to Rublev back at the 2024 Canadian Open. The Italian will return to the court on Monday.
