Despite Novak Djokovic’s legendary status, his eight-year-old daughter Tara has her own clear favorites. Djokovic revealed who his daughter’s favorite tennis player is, and the connection she shares with the player.
In a Wimbledon press conference, Djokovic noted that his daughter, Tara, is a hardcore Aryna Sabalenka fan. He also shared instances of the relationship his daughter and the Belarusian player have.
“Tara, who, of course, doesn’t play tennis, but it’s interesting to her, she follows it,” revealed the father. “Her favorite tennis player is Sabalenka. She is only interested in her matches and what she is doing. And she keeps asking if she can go to her house.”

When it came to picking the favorite, Tara went for the current WTA No. 1, but the reasoning had little to do with Sabalenka’s achievements.
It is mainly the snacks Sabalenka offered to Djokovic and Tara when they visited the Belarusian’s place. Ever since, “it’s all Tara can think about.” Not the game itself, but “whether she can get some more of that açaí.”
The two Grand Slam winners share a professional bond. Sabalenka, on Oct. 3, 2025, posted a picture on her Instagram of her and Djokovic, with their respective partners, on a night out with the caption, “Dream double date
”
Sabalenka has also previously mentioned that her discussions with Djokovic showed her how much knowledge he had of the game, and that this knowledge has “helped [her] a lot, several times”.
While this highlights the special bond the Djokovic family has formed with Sabalenka, no one can really blame Tara for favoring her. Especially, keeping the 6X Grand Slam champion’s fierce drive in mind.
2026 is Sabalenka’s year for several reasons. The 27-year-old may have skipped some events to prioritize health and had to withdraw from the Stuttgart Open, but her Sunshine Double (Indian Wells and Miami Open wins) is a notable career milestone, nonetheless.
She has extended her winning streak to 15 matches in April 2026, maintaining a 26-1 overall record for the season. The only shortcoming Sabalenka faced was in the Australian Open final in early January, losing 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to Elena Rybakina.
Moreover, she advanced to the quarterfinals of the Madrid Open on April 27, after handing a 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 defeat to Naomi Osaka. Sabalenka took on Hailey Baptiste next, but was bested in a shock 2-6 6-2 7-6 (8-6) loss to the American.
