Reilly Opelka resumes online grievances, takes sarcastic shot at player accommodations at Madrid Open

American tennis star Reilly Opelka has never been one to hold back his true opinions, as the towering athlete took to social media to complain about his accommodations at the ongoing Madrid Open.

The former World No.17 is no stranger to controversy, having made his disdain known for doubles and doubles players. Despite being called out by his fellow athletes, Opelka stood his ground, maintaining doubles players do not generate any income for the sport.

Opelka unhappy with view from his hotel

Although several of Opelka's colleagues shared their experiences in Madrid via pictures of historic sites, the American opted to present a more depressing view. Opelka took to his Instagram stories to post a picture showing an alleyway view from his window, with the night sky impeded by another building immediately adjacent to his hotel.

"Madrid sunset views are the best," read a sarcastic caption.

In addition to his attack on doubles, Opelka took issue with umpire Greg Allensworth earlier this year, calling him the "worst ump on tour" after he awarded Opelka a controversial point penalty during a match against Cameron Norrie in Dallas.

“He's real bad," Opelka said of Allensworth after the match in Dallas. "Almost changed the outcome of that match just because he doesn't really know what he's doing."

The World No.145 will kick off his campaign in Madrid when he faces Australian lucky loser Rinky Hijikata in the first round on Thursday.
