You think Wimbledon 2025 is done surprising us? Think again. Just when fans thought the drama was over for the day, Roger Federer showed up. Racket in hand. Smiling wide. And playing on the iconic grass courts once again.

On Friday, Federer posted a video on his Instagram that instantly sent tennis fans into a frenzy. The clip showed him, dressed in his classic black and white Uniqlo gear, hitting a few balls at the All England Club. His partner? Old friend and former rival Tommy Haas. The two shared plenty of battles on tour, including that memorable 2009 Wimbledon semi-final where Federer came out on top.

It wasn’t a packed Centre Court or a match for the record books. But it was special. Federer hasn't played on Wimbledon grass since his quarter-final loss to Hubert Hurkacz in 2021. That match turned out to be the last of his legendary career. With his wife Mirka watching nearby, this quiet hitting session felt like a soft encore for the eight-time Wimbledon champion.

And Federer said it best himself. "Couldn’t resist, Wimbledon," he captioned the video. Simple. Honest. Perfect.

The video featured Fleetwood Mac’s Dreams , adding to the nostalgia. Federer didn’t announce this hit. He just did it. A few days earlier, he was spotted in the Royal Box watching Novak Djokovic face Alex de Minaur, and young Mirra Andreeva battle Emma Navarro.

Fans couldn’t hold back their emotions.

One called him "Love the Goat."

Another joked , "Stevie Nicks is there in the background."

Some noticed his gear, "What racket is he using? Not the RF?"

"And he’s still wearing Uniqlo," someone pointed out.

Another said, "He still looks good to be playing at SW19."

And perhaps the most heartfelt? "Cries in nostalgia but look at those smiles."

Wimbledon, Federer, and a quiet court. Sometimes, that's all it takes to remind us why we love this sport.
