Roger Federer is the subject of a new documentary called Federer: Twelve Final Days.
It follows the great tennis player during his last Laver Cup in 2022, where he faced off against Rafael Nadal , Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, and more.
Shortly before the start of the Laver Cup, the 20-time Grand Slam champion announced his decision to retire from professional tennis. With a 25-year career spanning 1,500 matches, it turned the tournament into an emotional send-off.
“The past three years have presented me with challenges in the form of injuries and surgeries,” said Federer in a scene from the documentary. “I’ve worked hard to return to full competitive form, but I also know my body’s capacities and limits, and its message to me lately has been clear…“I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart, to everyone around the world who has helped make the dreams of a young Swiss ball kid come true.”
Directed by Academy Award-winning Asif Kapadia and Joe Sabia, Federer: Twelve Final Days streams exclusively on Prime Video from June 20, 2024.
The streamers are going in on sporting docs. The Beckham Netflix documentary director revealed what the ex-footballer’s really like.
