Novak Djokovic has achieved just about everything there is to achieve in tennis.

The Serbian star has won more Grand Slams than anyone else, and spent longer at the top of the ATP Tour rankings.

Even in the twilight of his career, Djokovic has proved that he is still the third-best player in the world, despite being almost double the age of his rivals.

Before he became the undeniable GOAT of tennis, Djokovic revealed the one thing he wanted to do more than become world number one.

Novak Djokovic’s aspirations to win Wimbledon

Speaking in 2007, before the star had reached the summit of the rankings or even won a Grand Slam, Djokovic outlined his goals for his career.

“My goal is to be the number one player in the world. But my dream, the actual dream, is to win Wimbledon.

“That’s the biggest major of all them all, the one with the most tradition. You get a special feeling there. If I won, I don’t know what I would do. I would probably take all my clothes off.”

Djokovic won Wimbledon for the first time just four years after admitting his aspirations.

The star defeated Rafael Nadal in the final in four sets to confirm the third Grand Slam of his glittering career.

As of 2025, Djokovic has captured another five Wimbledon titles, with his last victory at the tournament coming in 2022.

Why Novak Djokovic eats the Wimbledon grass after he wins

Djokovic has become synonymous with Wimbledon, particularly by eating the grass on the court when he wins the trophy.

The star explained the reasoning behind one of the more bizarre traditions that have been created in tennis.

“I love tasting the grass of Wimbledon. That’s kind of like a little tradition, I would say, the three times that I managed to win this great tournament.

“I’ve always dreamed of winning Wimbledon – I kind of constructed little trophies when I was seven years old, eight years old, of Wimbledon, raising that trophy in front of the mirror, imagining myself to be a Wimbledon champion. That was always one of the biggest dreams.”

Djokovic will continue his incredible career into 2026, and he could return to Wimbledon for the 21st time.
