The one stat that separates Djokovic from Federer and Nadal

It’s rare to find much daylight between Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer in the debate over tennis’ greatest player.

The “GOAT debate” between Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer rarely finds a clear winner. Djokovic leads the trio in Grand Slam titles, but all three have shaped tennis in different ways — Federer with his grass-court brilliance, Nadal with his Roland Garros dominance, and Djokovic with unmatched longevity and consistency.

But while comparisons often feel endless, one statistic shows Djokovic towering over both of his greatest rivals — and it’s not even close.

Novak Djokovic’s astonishing Top 10 wins record

Top 10 victories offer one of the clearest indicators of where elite players truly stand in the ATP hierarchy. Beating the best usually leads to going deeper at Grand Slams and lifting more trophies.

That makes Djokovic’s record all the more remarkable: he has finished a season as the ATP leader in Top 10 wins 13 times — an all-time record miles ahead of Federer and Nadal, who managed it only eight and three times, respectively.

Across his 20 seasons on tour, Djokovic has topped the list in more than half of them, showcasing a standard of excellence his two greatest rivals simply never matched over such a sustained period.

Novak Djokovic’s Top 10 wins during the 2025 season

Despite playing a reduced schedule in 2025, Djokovic still collected four Top 10 victories. His first came in a dramatic four-set win over Carlos Alcaraz in the Australian Open quarterfinals.

He added another at Roland Garros, defeating world No. 3 Alexander Zverev in the last eight, before taking out world No. 4 Taylor Fritz in the US Open quarterfinals.

Djokovic’s final Top 10 win of the year arrived in the championship match of the Hellenic Championships, where he beat world No. 9 Lorenzo Musetti to claim his second title of the season.

For a player nearing the end of his career, Djokovic’s ability to continue beating the very best — and doing so more consistently than anyone in the history of the sport — is what truly sets him apart.
