The 2025 Roland Garros final is already regarded as one of the best matches in tennis history, with titans Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner battling for the prized trophy. Their battle left an impression on many, including fellow ATP star Alexander Bublik.

Lasting five hours and 29 minutes, the final saw Alcaraz overcome a two sets to love deficit to defeat Sinner in a fifth set tiebreak. Both players received a standing ovation after the match, with the Spaniard successfully defending his Roland Garros title whereas Sinner fell short from winning his third consecutive Grand Slam title.

The duo are the new Federer and Nadal, says Bublik

Following their epic encounter, several in the tennis community were full of praise for both men. Kazakh star Bublik compared both men to tennis legends Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, highlighting their exceptional talent as they led the next generation of tennis superstars.

"They will continue to play at this level," claimed Bublik. "They are just in another dimension. It’s impressive to see and I think it’s very nice to be part of these moments as players, playing against them many times. I have already played against Jannik six times, I have never faced Carlos but I am sure it will come.
"I was not worried but I was a little upset that I had not faced Roger and Rafa in my career, such legends, but maybe we will have new legends and I could face them 20 times, and I wish them a lot of success and every time I watch a Grand Slam tournament, I hope they win, I hope they see each other in the final, I hope this Grand Slam race will increase and decrease between them. And I think it’s really exciting to be present in this time."

Retired stars Federer and Nadal faced each other on 40 separate occasions, with the Mallorcan leading 24-16 by the time their careers came to an end. Conversely, Alcaraz and Sinner have met 12 times on the ATP Tour, with Alcaraz leading 8-4 at this stage in their careers. Furthermore, Alcaraz has won the last five encounters, dating back to Indian Wells in 2024.

Bublik will get another opportunity to face Sinner, as the World No.1 resumes his campaign at the Halle Open on Thursday. With both men having won the title in the past, each will have a lot to prove when they face off in the OWL Arena.
